Global Impact

An intimate conversation about faith, diplomacy, and destiny. From humble beginnings to the United Nations Security Council, Mercy shares how God-factor has been the ace in her hand throughout her remarkable journey.

Q1

What does 'The God-Factor in Career' mean to you?

The God-factor is the ace in the believer's hand. When doors should close, mercy opens them; when doubt gnaws, divine vision fuels the flame. In 2014, I stood in the United Nations Security Council Chamber, witnessing the very scene God had shown me as a hungry child—a moment of divine alignment that affirmed my destiny was never accidental but authored by a higher hand.

Q2

How has faith shaped your diplomatic career?

My childhood reads like a stark ledger—a broken family, the weight of poverty, and a tenacious hustle that turned survival into an art. Yet from the margins of hardship, I didn't retreat from God's call; I leaned in. At thirteen, I found in faith a compass, not a quiet wish. Faith has been my foundation, my guide through every diplomatic posting, and the source of my strength in representing Nigeria on the global stage.

Q3

What advice do you have for young professionals?

I stand as a reminder that leadership anchored in service, vision, and divine purpose can indeed shape nations and history. My journey bridges the sacred and the strategic—proving that faith and excellence are not opposites but allies in the making of impactful leaders. Trust God's timing, remain faithful to your calling, and let your faith be the foundation of every professional endeavor.

Q4

How do you balance demanding diplomatic work with spiritual life?

True diplomacy isn't practiced only in meeting rooms. It's practiced in how we build trust, bridge divides, and leave the world a little better than we found it. My spiritual life isn't separate from my work—it's integrated into every decision, every negotiation, and every opportunity to serve. The God-factor isn't just a concept; it's a daily reality that influences every aspect of my career.

Lives Impacted

An exclusive conversation about courage, risk-taking, and divine purpose. Julie shares how a 15-year banking career prepared her for an unexpected calling in nursing education that has impacted countless students.

Q1

What made you leave a successful banking career?

When I walked away from 15 years in banking, I didn't know my greatest calling was waiting. 'I never planned on becoming a nurse,' I admit with a smile. 'But God had a bigger plan.' The journey wasn't easy, but every challenge was preparation for something greater. Sometimes God calls us to leave the familiar to walk into the extraordinary.

Q2

How did you overcome the challenges of nursing school?

There were nights of fear, moments when I wondered if I could do it. But God spoke to me clearly—He told me to study quickly and pass because others were waiting for me. He told me I was an NCLEX instructor. That divine revelation turned a challenging academic journey into a mission of hope for countless students.

Q3

What's your message to students facing challenges?

Risk-taking is imperative. Sometimes you'll stumble, but that's part of the process. Be faithful to your dreams, not to others' opinions. Success requires stepping out of your comfort zone. Stay consistent, stay persistent, and trust God's timing. Your breakthrough is closer than you think.

Q4

What keeps you motivated as an educator?

The greatest reward for me is getting that call or message from a student who once doubted themselves but now says, 'I passed!' That joy never gets old. Every student who walks across that finish line is confirmation that God's plan for my life is being fulfilled through their success.
